Organizers of the prestigious 2014 World Travel Awards have announced their list of finalists for South & Central America. Ecuador leads the way with 25 nominations, including Quito which has again been nominated as a finalist in the category South America’s Leading Destination. Quito took home top honors in the same category in 2013 and will play host to this year’s gala awards ceremony at the Centro Cultural Itchimbía in Parque Itchimbia.

Hailed as “the Oscars of the travel industry,” the World Travel Awards is acknowledged across the globe as the ultimate travel accolade and aims to celebrate those brands that are pushing the boundaries of industry excellence.

Nominations are based on industry professional recommendations. Ecuador’’s recognition is influenced by the tourism promotional efforts of agencies throughout Ecuador. The nominations confirm Ecuador’’s place as a top tourism destination.21st Annual World Travel Awards

Ecuador in looking to better last year’s results when it had winners in three categories, including Finch Bay Eco Hotel for South America’s Leading Green Hotel and Arasha Tropical Forest Resort & Spa for South America’s Leading Resort, as well as Quito for South America’s Leading Destination.
